Cedar/Track Your Humidor Humidity and Temperature

Track Your Humidor Humidity and Temperature

Cedar records humidity and temperature for each humidor you own, against the target range you set. It keeps the history so you can watch the trend rather than today's number — because drift is what costs you a box, and drift only shows up over time.

A number is not a reading

Glance at a hygrometer and you get a number. It tells you where the humidor is right now and nothing at all about where it is going. A humidor that reads 64% today is fine if it read 65% last week, and a problem if it read 69% — same number, opposite meaning.

Cedar keeps the readings, so the useful part — the direction — becomes visible.

Per-humidor targets

Every humidor is different. A cabinet in a cool room and a travel case in a hot car do not want the same setpoint, and a single global "65%" is a fiction. Cedar stores a target humidity range and a target temperature range per humidor, and marks each one in range, low or high against its own targets.

Reading history and trend

Log relative humidity and temperature whenever you check. Cedar keeps the full history with the target band drawn alongside, so a slow slide over six weeks is obvious rather than something you notice when a wrapper cracks.

There is a weekly reminder if you want one. It is optional and off unless you turn it on.

Humidification packs

Record which two-way humidity pack is in each humidor, with the install date and the expected replacement date. Packs fail quietly: they do not announce that they are spent, the humidity just starts falling. Tracking the date is the cheapest insurance there is.

Out-of-range alerts

Cedar Pro flags a humidor that has gone outside its target range on the humidor screen, so the state is visible without opening each one in turn.

Bring your own hygrometer

Cedar does not talk to sensors. It records what you enter, from whatever gauge you already trust — analogue, digital, one per box or one you move around. That is a deliberate choice: no pairing, no batteries beyond the ones already in your hygrometer, and nothing that stops working when a manufacturer shuts down an API.

If you are not sure your gauge is honest, the salt test takes a day and settles it, and we have a calculator that does the arithmetic.

Where humidity fits in the record

Conditions are half the story; the other half is what is sitting in them. Cedar ties each humidor to the lots stored inside it, so the reading history belongs to specific cigars rather than to an abstract box. See cigar inventory tracking.

Questions, answered

Does Cedar connect to a wireless hygrometer?

No. Cedar records the readings you enter, from whatever hygrometer you already own. There is no sensor integration, so nothing to pair, charge or replace — and the log works with an analogue gauge just as well as a digital one.

What humidity should I keep my humidor at?

Most collectors settle between 62% and 70% relative humidity, with 65% a common default and lower ranges preferred in warmer rooms. Cedar lets you set the target range per humidor rather than assuming one number. Our guide on cigar storage humidity targets goes into the trade-offs.

How often should I log a reading?

Weekly is enough for a stable humidor, and Cedar can send a weekly reminder if you want one. Log more often after seasoning, after adding a large amount of stock, or when the room temperature is swinging.

Does it track humidification packs?

Yes. Record what is installed and when, with the expected replacement date, so a spent pack is noticed before the humidity drops rather than after.

Can I track several humidors?

The free tier covers one humidor with unlimited condition logging. Cedar Pro allows as many as you keep, each with its own target range and history.
